Oh My gods

It's no wonder that Bali is called the Island of the Gods.  Tiny to towering offerings ranging from fresh flower petals topped with fruit, cake, candy, and cigarettes, to just a few grains of rice on banana leaf, are gifted to the Hindu gods daily. Most of these floral favors are presented in hand-woven baskets made from coconut leaves, and topped with a single, sweet-smelling incense, as if to seduce all senses of spirit.  The streets are literally littered with symbols of love, and divine light . But it takes an eye trained to find beauty in seemingly ugly places, to notice, and more importantly, appreciate. These charming 'chanang' are, in my opinion, one of the small, sacred, and simple-yet-stunning secrets to bali's beauty.
